Tool man
I think that john can’t work properly as he takes too many
things with him. It says he takes 2 hours a day and all Friday sorting his
administration out. This is a lot of time working but not actually doing any
actual work. I believe that technology would be of benefit to john as in what I
will say in a few moments.
PDA – a personal digital assistant will be helpful to john
as it will keep all of his contacts etc.. in a data log that can fit inside of
his pocket. This reduces his admin time throughout the day and can spend more
time doing other things.
GPS – global positioning system can help john out a lot due
to him not buying maps all the time when they have new roads. GPS can also help
him pout as it doesn’t consume time to read where you are, it shortens time
between each place therefore giving him more free time.
A laptop – a laptop can help him out as he you can do almost
anything on a laptop. From having a PDA on the laptop and he can also put a GPS
on his laptop. His laptop can create all accounts of what he does and, with
help from the internet, can look at all the tools that he needs and can look at
all the latest prices and so can keep up to date very accurately instead of buying
a book once a month or so.
If john likes the way he does things and feels that his time
is well spent he can keep doing what he is doing and the way he is doing it. But
I would go out and get these things myself as it saves a huge amount of time.

Activity 7 - finding relaible, valid information
Not all websites are true? Yes they are!!
Well that is what you would think. Why would someone spend
their time to make something fake? I don’t really know the answer to that only
that it happens. Some people make fake websites like a fake white house page or
to make people think that there is a dog island.
Most fake websites can be put into some groups. Some just
send you do random sites. Some try to upload viruses such as key loggers onto
your computer, or some even try to make you subscribe to something that is not
even real.
If people make fake sites for a laugh then there will be
quite a few mistakes in the design. Examples of this would be that the font is
not the same as the real website, the colour scheme is different, the pictures
are not the same or even that the website has some content blocked.
For the sites that want you to
download something or want you to subscribe may be done a bit more professionally.
The 1st thing that would put
you off is intuition. Do you think that you should download a file named ‘novirusesinthisdownload’,
or do you want to buy free years’ worth supply of models cars? So obvious
things will give it away biut if they don’t heres a few things that you should
consider. Does the website use an incorrect URL, does it end in
.gov/tv/co.uk/com, or something that you know about. Does it ask for you
banking information. A real bank would never ask for your bank account Information
or your debit card and PIN numbers via email. Check if it actually spells words
correctly. Aslo, check if the images are
of top notch quality, if the pictures are in low resolution then don’t trust
it, simple!

SMS - Has its time past?
Due to texting,
people have created their own ‘language’ if you could call it that. When texting
it makes sense to shorten words by taking out letters that you don’t sound in
the actual letter and only use the key letters. Words like ‘LOL, GR8, BRB’/
these days everyone knows what these words mean, but earlier in time, this would’ve
been a different language. Even though we used these words during texting,
these words and phrases have become second nature to us now and we use them
throughout everyday life.
