SMS - Has its time past?

I don’t believe that SMS’ing has become outdated at all. As the article above states, triple as many texts were sent last year compared to 5 years ago. Texting has reached its prime. Meaning that texting is already simple as it is and therefore any improvement on the recent technology won’t be in such demand as phones were when they 1st came out. Texting is very easy as most recent technology has touch screens which shortens the time a lot to send messages compared to the old letters and numbers board.

Due to texting, people have created their own ‘language’ if you could call it that. When texting it makes sense to shorten words by taking out letters that you don’t sound in the actual letter and only use the key letters. Words like ‘LOL, GR8, BRB’/ these days everyone knows what these words mean, but earlier in time, this would’ve been a different language. Even though we used these words during texting, these words and phrases have become second nature to us now and we use them throughout everyday life.
